I've been using the Mac version of Word since the 1995 I've had few if any crashes of Word. If the only time you'll need the 2010 version you can use the Mac version in most cases, and never have any major issues. Then you can have the best of both worlds. IF you seriously need 2010, I would recommend getting Windows 7 or 8 and Parallels and create a Windows partition and load office2010 or 2013 on the partition. doc and docx files Word files are Compatible with the PC version.
